Latin American Project
Work dedicated to Javier Hagen and Ulrike Mayer Spohn.
Musical Theater for Male Voice, Recorder and electronics.
Particular dedication to conservation efforts for the rescue, care and preservation of native fauna in their natural habitats.
The work is based on scientific studies of the Ajolote, a species endemic to the central lakes of Mexico. It was a sacred animal for the ancient Mexica, who also used it as food. In mythology it is the twin brother of Quetzalcoatl and is part of the legend of the Fifth Sun for the creation of the universe.
The salamander is in a critical state of extinction because its habitat is highly altered and polluted.
Premiere in Bern, Switzerland, February 2019.
