Electroacoustic Music Studies Network 2019

Casa del Lago

México

https://taniarubio.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/1.-Tania-Rubio_Natural-Mutations.mp3

[:en]

2019

*Electroacoustic Music Studies Network

Multichannel acousmatic work that works on the sound transformation processes of birdsongs, where the sounds were transformed until they almost completely lost their original source. The idea is to create new sonic entities with their own identity that contain certain acoustic characteristics concerning the morphology of birdsong. The piece is a construction of imaginary soundscapes based on the structural organization of sound present in the acoustic phenomenon of the dawn chorus of birds and amphibians. For the elaboration of the piece, I made a selection of the biophony of bird vocalizations from the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. I used some bird songs from the album Bird songs of México: Yucatan Peninsula Vol.1, made by A. Celis, F. González, and D. Meltzer. These birds were selected because they are part of a mega-diverse region with ecosystems threatened by the diverse processes of urbanization. Faced with the global ecological crisis that precedes us, I consider art an aesthetic tool to investigate and question the role played by human beings in relation to other living organisms that inhabit the planet. I present the work as a metaphor of imaginary soundscapes where the human being is able to coexist and cohabit with other species and new technologies without devastating nature.

*Thanks to biologists A.Celis, Fernando González, and Danny Meltzer for access to their recordings.

Electroacoustic Music Studies Network 2019

Casa del Lago

Mexico

https://taniarubio.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/1.-Tania-Rubio_Natural-Mutations.mp3

[:]

[211,212
post-3788","obras","type-obras","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-instalacion-sonora","category-musica-acusmatica
["GET
