In the music industry, there is much talk of sustainability, especially with an emphasis on green transitions and issues of production, touring, and working with audiences as consumers. While this is important, it is also crucial to address the climate change and environmental crisis from a creative-affective point of view. How are composers and sound artists working artistically with climate? How can sonic practices in art-music strengthen restorative values rather than short-term profit and the systemic relations of exhaustion and inequality?
This is a participatory presentation, mixing discussion and performance, by members of an artistic think-tank (Tania Rubio, Samuel Hertz, Eduardo Abrantes, Miguel Crozzoli, Marina Cyrino, Heðin Davidsen), that since 2023, has been deploying discourse and action through soft interventions on sustainability platforms within political and cultural events.
